Criteria of eligibility

Transnational Access Programme

Lasers4EU provides researchers with access to laser research infrastructures through the Transnational Access scheme of the EU Horizon Europe research and innovation programme- Access to European Research Infrastructures – European Commission

The Transnational Access Programme is subject to certain restrictions on the eligibility of users based on the location of their home institutions.

Who is elegible?

‘User groups’ from any country worldwide are eligible to access the infrastructure under the EU contract, provided the following conditions are met:

  • Transnationality rule: both the Principal Investigator and the majority of the users must work in a country other than the country(ies) where the research infrastructure is located.;
  • Open access requirement: only user groups that are allowed to publish the results of their access projects according to open access requirements can benefit from transnational access, unless the users are working for SMEs;
  • Third-country participation: Access by user groups from non-EU or non-associated (“third”) countries is welcome but limited to a maximum of 20% of the total access provided under the project, which will be monitored by the Lasers4EU management.

Applications from Lasers4EU participants

Proposals submitted by applicants affiliated with any of the Lasers4EU Access Providing Infrastructures (API) will not be considered eligible for transnational access, which is reserved for external users. However, these researchers are invited to apply for funding under Joint Experiments.
