Staff exchanges
Short-term training visits for technical staff and scientists
Improving specific experimental skills and competences for Lasers4EU scientists
Encouraging the development and the implementation of standardised procedures
Staff exchanges between Lasers4EU facilities will increase the scientific and technical skills of the targeted personnel and lead to a pool of good operational practices on issues related to user access provision, such as security and laboratory management.
The higher technical skills acquired through these exchanges will improve the services offered to users. When occurring between an experienced access-providing installation and a more recently commissioned one, it will ensure training of less experienced staff on specific instrumental techniques or facility operation, contributing to building the next generation of highly skilled technicians and engineers at the service of the European Research Infrastructures.
In addition to technical skill and competence improvements, the staff exchanges will encourage the development and implementation of standardized procedures.
The staff exchanges will consist of short visits (1-2 weeks) for training activities on laser equipment, experimental setups, data acquisition systems, and/or analysis methods. They will be organized through regular calls and travel and subsistance costs will be covered.
Proposals will be submitted jointly by the two parties (SO and HO) and will include a training plan specifying the objectives of the visit, the expected impacts, and the experimental requirements. A clear statement on the feasibility of the staff exchange (in terms of technical feasibility and availability of equipment and human resources) will be provided by the “host” facility. The Activity Board will assess the training opportunities and the alignment of the training needs with the host’s capabilities. Each staff exchange will be followed by a report to the Activity Board, prepared jointly by the two parties and describing the abilities acquired.
