Lasers4EU Training
User training schools
Structured programs for hands-on learning in advanced laser facilities
Pre-project training
Hands-on training for young researchers to improve the efficiency of the access project
Online tools
Provision of online software tools to users to support experiments’ design and analysis
Pre-project training
Hands-on preparation to maximize the impact of your research access: Pre-access training is available to user groups that have been granted access to a host laser lab. It enables a visiting researcher, preferably an early-career scientist, to visit the host laboratory prior to the main access period for hands-on instruction
The visit lasts up to one week and provides direct experience with facility equipment, experimental set-ups, data acquisition systems, and analysis methods
Empowering early-career researchers: Beyond maximizing beamtime efficiency, this scheme serves as a dedicated professional development initiative
Streamlined integration and mutual benefits: Integrating pre-project training delivers significant advantages for both visiting groups and host laser labs
Key Guidelines
-
Eligibility: One person per user group.
-
Timing: Conducted immediately prior to the main access period, typically lasting up to 1 week
. -
Scope: Training on facility equipment, procedures, safety protocols, and data workflows
. -
Application Process: Requested in the TNA proposal and confirmed by the host facility during the feasibility check prior to scientific evaluation
. -
Funding: Travel and subsistence costs for the visiting researcher are funded by the Lasers4EU project
. Host facilities provide the training as an in-kind contribution.
